Challenger Center Mission Registration

We are looking forward to having your students at the Scobee Education Center Challenger Center in the 2019-2020 school year. Challenger Missions Priority Registration for ISD’s will begin on August 26, 2019 and will be on a first come first serve basis. Please send in your registrations as soon as you can to sac-scobeectr@alamo.edu.  Challenger Center will schedule schools as registrations come in.

Open Registration for all school types and groups begins October 1st.  ISD’s may still register. It will be harder to get the days the ISD’s need. This time frame gives the area ISD’s the fist choices to our calendar dates.

Mission Training:

To make the challenger mission a successful experience for students and teachers, we require all teachers who prepare students for a mission to participate in a Professional Development pre-mission training. During the pre-mission training we will discuss how to prepare classes for a mission, provide TEKS based lessons to enhance your science curriculum and also give teachers six hours of professional development. Please visit the training links below for dates and times.  Click on the mission you decide works best for your students. We are look forward to seeing you soon.

Previously Trained Teachers:

Those teachers who attended a pre-mission training for the Earth Odyssey mission and would like to do this mission again are already trained.  We can come out to your school if you have 4 or more teachers for a training update. Please contact cterrones@alamo.edu if you would like to set up this two-hour update training for your returning teachers. We have some great new TEKS based resources to share.

Teachers who have attended training for the Earth Odyssey mission, but are choosing to register their classes for the Lunar Quest Mission or  Expedition Mars Mission will have to register for the full day training. These trainings will take place at the Scobee Education Center. It is a new mission, we have designed a fun new professional development day to help you prepare your students. Please plan accordingly for this training by registering on the training link below.  We are looking forward to seeing you on a Challenger Mission.

Challenger Mission Options

Expedition Mars, our new mission for the 2017-2018 school year.  The martians of tomorrow are in your class today.  Prepare them for their future.  The martian explorers will investigate the geology of Mars and the technology that will get us there.

Lunar Quest, a challenging mission that takes the crew to the moon.  The scientists, engineers and astronauts explore the geology of the moon, it’s resources and health, navigation, robotic rovers and safety of the crew.

Earth Odyssey, scientists and astronauts on the ISS research the four spheres of the earth and the power of the Sun as they investigate a recent coronal mass ejection.  Engineers are critical as they need to build a satellite the CME has damaged and monitor the solar panels on the ISS.
